Kids Making Sense® Community Air Sensor Kits provide community members with access to the AQ-go cutting-edge handheld particulate matter air sensors designed to measure and map air quality and provide real-time data. With the AQ-go air sensor, users can explore their community while mapping PM data in real time. The sensor pairs seamlessly with a user-friendly app that can be downloaded to a cell phone or tablet. The data is automatically uploaded to a crowdsourced website, allowing users to contribute to a dynamic mapping platform that benefits the whole community.
The kit includes a fully developed Community Air Sensor Guide, which provides background information on air pollution, particle sensors, viewing collected air quality data, and study ideas to explore local air quality.
Tip: Use these kits to establish an air sensor loan program at your local library, community center, science museum, or school – Reach out for more information on how others have done this!
Note: This version of the kit is best for users who can use personal cell phones or Bluetooth and Wi-Fi enabled tables to install the free AirCasting app. We provide specific steps for how to download and configure the app. If you would prefer a kit that includes preconfigured Android smartphones, please let us know and we can include a phone option.
